<image:title>Greenpeace activists are protesting in front of the Brandenburg Gate at the start of Berlin Fashion Week with a roughly 3.5 meter high and 12 meter wide mountain of textile waste against the Fast Fashion industry. A banner reading "FAST FASHION – KLEIDER MACHEN MÜLL" (Fast Fashion - Clothes Make Waste) warns of the impacts of the Fast Fashion industry. The textiles for the clothing mountain were attached to a support structure and come from the Kantamanto Market in Accra, the largest second-hand market in Ghana.</image:title>

<image:title>Ghana is the largest buyer of second-hand textiles from Germany. Around one hundred and fity thousand tonnes of second-hand clothing and textile waste from Asia, North America and Europe end up in the West African every year. On a research trip, a field team of Greenpeace Africa and Greenpeace Germany analyzes the impact of plastic textile waste in Ghana's capital Accra and collects textile waste generated by the fast fashion industry, much of which is non-recyclable, on the beach and at West Africa's largest second-hand textile market - the Kantamanto market. Greenpeace is shipping this collected textile waste to Germany in a container designed by Ghanaian artists as part of a return-to-sender campaign in order to take further analytical samples of the plastic textiles and raise awareness about the destructive side of fast fashion and waste colonialism. Overconsumption in the textile industry and the massive use of synthetic plastic fibres and blended fabrics are causing devastating environmental damage and </image:title>

<image:title>Moritz Jahn is an actor and musician from Germany. His best-known work is the Netflix series “Dark”. Moritz was invited to participate in the expedition to experience the culture and lifestyle of the communities from Manicoré River, and also learn with scientists the importance of studying the local biodiversity. The river expedition “Amazon We Need”, held in June 2022, is a way to discuss new economic development models for the region, based on forest potential, the knowledge of traditional and Indigenous populations, and promoting scientific research. The expedition aims to support river communities of the Manicoré River, in the southern Amazonas state, who fight for their land rights to be acknowledged and their forest protected. Another objective is to support researchers of INPA (Amazon Research National Institute) in their studies on Amazon biodiversity.</image:title>
