Greenpeace Germany has started legal proceedings against Volkswagen for fuelling the climate crisis and  failing to decarbonize the company in line with the 1.5°C goal agreed in Paris. Based on the most recent reports by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and the International Energy Agency (IEA) Greenpeace demanded the company end the production of climate-damaging internal combustion vehicles and reduce its carbon footprint by 65% by 2030 at the latest.

This is the English translation of the claim letter to Volkswagen, starting the legal proceedings. The German original can be found here.
